Zebra 10010039 Z-Select 4000D labels are 2" x 1" white direct thermal paper labels for compact product identification and indoor labeling. Smooth coated paper produces clear print without a ribbon, and permanent all-temperature acrylic adhesive keeps labels attached during everyday handling. Perforations allow easy separation.

Each case includes 4 rolls of 2,340 labels, totaling 9,360 labels. The 1" core and 5" outer diameter suit printers designed for this roll format. Verify your exact printer's media requirements before ordering.

Coated paper for ribbon-free printing

Z-Select 4000D combines a 3.2 mil coated paper facestock, a 0.8 mil adhesive layer and a 2.3 mil, 40 lb. semi-bleached kraft liner. Total material thickness is 6.3 mil ±10%. Zebra specifies good print quality at speeds up to 10 inches per second for this material. Actual operating speed depends on the printer, settings and label design.

Compact identification and laboratory use

The 2" x 1" format provides space for concise product details, identification text and appropriately sized barcodes. For specimen tubes or vials, pre-test fit and adhesion on the exact container under intended handling and temperature conditions. This paper material is not recommended for exposure to blood, body fluids, alcohol or harsh laboratory chemicals. Select purpose-designed media when those exposures are expected.

Check printer compatibility

Your printer must support direct thermal printing and accept the media width, 1" label length, 1" core, 5" roll outer diameter and material thickness. Verify the exact model's sensing, minimum label length and dispensing or cutting requirements. A printer's nominal print width alone does not establish roll compatibility. Contact us for help checking the roll against your printer configuration.

Temperature and storage

  • Minimum application temperature: -20°F (-29°C)
  • Service temperature: -65°F to 140°F (-54°C to 60°C)
  • Optimal storage conditions: 72°F (22°C) at 50% relative humidity

Application temperature applies when attaching the label; service temperature describes exposure after application. Test adhesion and print readability on the intended surface under actual operating conditions.

Exposure limitations

Z-Select 4000D has limited moisture and abrasion resistance and is not recommended for outdoor use. Blood, body fluids, window cleaner, alcohol, ammonia, bleach, IPA, gasoline, grease, oil, acetone, MEK, TCE and xylene are not recommended exposures. Use more durable media for outdoor environments, heavy abrasion or chemical contact.

Frequently asked questions

What size are Zebra 10010039 labels?

Each label measures 2" wide by 1" long (50.8 x 25.4 mm).

How many labels are included?

There are 2,340 labels per roll and 4 rolls per case, totaling 9,360 labels.

Do I need a thermal transfer ribbon?

No. These direct thermal labels print using heat without a ribbon.

Are these labels perforated?

Yes. The perforated format allows easy separation.

Will they fit any Zebra printer?

No universal fit is implied. Check direct thermal capability, media width, 1" label length, 1" core, 5" outer diameter, material thickness and the model's media-handling requirements.

Can I use them on specimen tubes or vials?

Test adhesion and fit on the exact container before use. The material is not recommended for blood, body-fluid, alcohol or other listed chemical exposure. Use purpose-designed laboratory media where those conditions are expected.

How fast can they print?

The material supports good print quality up to 10 inches per second. Printer capability, settings and label layout determine the appropriate operating speed.

Can they be applied at -65°F?

No. Minimum application temperature is -20°F (-29°C). The -65°F lower service limit describes exposure after application.

Are these labels waterproof or suitable outdoors?

They have limited moisture and abrasion resistance and are not recommended for outdoor use.

How should unused rolls be stored?

Optimal storage is 72°F (22°C) at 50% relative humidity.
